2024 in review: DACS distributes over £16 million in royalties to more than 100,000 artists and artist estates in its 40th year

In 2024, DACS celebrated its 40th anniversary and 25 years of its Payback collective licensing scheme marking four decades of advocating for artists' rights and ensuring fair compensation for creators.

Throughout the year, we continued our mission to support visual artists and their estates, distributing substantial royalties and engaging in significant advocacy efforts.

Looking back at DACS’ 40th year, Christian Zimmermann, DACS Chief Executive, said:

2024 was a milestone year for DACS. As we celebrated 40 years of championing artists’ rights, we also reached a record-breaking achievement - with over 100,000 artists and estates being paid over £16.1 million in royalties. While we’re proud of everything we’ve accomplished over the past four decades, our focus remains on the future: strengthening rights, expanding opportunities, and securing better conditions for artists.
