DACS joins rightsholders from across the creative industries for meeting with Secretary of State for Science Innovation and Technology.
This week our CEO Christian Zimmermann joined representatives from across the creative and rightsholder industries for a meeting with Secretary of State, Rt Hon Peter Kyle MP, organised by James Frith MP, to discuss the need for control and remuneration of rightsholders whilst facilitating the development of responsible AI, and the crucial role that licensing and transparency must play in any solution.
Following the meeting, James Frith MP has written to the Secretary of State, outlining the view shared by all signatories that a growing licensing market will bring benefits to creators/rightsholders, consumers and AI developers and that any call for a strengthening of copyright must be about supplementing our choice and ability to license and enforce, rather than removing the level of control that creators/rightsholders have today
