DACS Presents: Phyllida Barlow
DACS is delighted to present an intimate conversation with Phyllida Barlow which will look at the challenges faced by art students and how these problematics radically shape the future of the Arts in this country.
With a career spanning several decades and a life-long commitment to art education, this event will be a moment to consider, explore, and share some reflections on this far-reaching topic and bring to the fore how to better support and encourage the next generation of artists.
For more than 50 years, Barlow has taken inspiration from her surroundings to create imposing installations that can be at once menacing and playful. She has exhibited extensively internationally and in 2017 represented Britain at the Venice Biennale. Her work is currently on display as part of the Artist Rooms collection at Tate Modern.
Barlow was joined in conversation by then DACS Chief Executive, Gilane Tawadros.
About DACS Presents
Artists frame and represent the world in ways that disrupt our assumptions and inspire new perspectives. This is something DACS wants to celebrate.
Through our public programme of talks and events, we brought people together to hear from important artistic voices. Previous speakers include artists Ryan Gander, Liliane Lijn, Johnnie Shand Kydd, Duggie Fields and Anthea Hamilton.
