Simone Rocha's visual merchandising
Highlighting the symbiotic relationship between art and fashion, we worked with designer Simone Rocha to enable the use of works by Louise Bourgeois in her Christmas window displays. This saw Rocha’s collection set against a backdrop of wall hangings and gift boxes adorned by the French-American artist’s work. Rocha has long been a fan of Bourgeois – find out how the artist has inspired her work here.
Krohnark's interior design commission
We were really excited to bring together Norwegian architects Krohnark and British artist Nick Gentry, who uses recycled digital materials to investigate society’s relationship with technology. We supplied high quality images and put in place the licences required for a wall of lightboxes displaying his work in the entrance hall of Mølleparken 4 in Oslo. The building is part of a major regeneration project by the river Akerselva.
Mrs Lowry and Son
We often license artworks for film, and this year we were thrilled to work on Mrs Lowry and Son. Starring Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall, the film is adapted from a radio and stage play by Martyn Hesford and dramatises L. S. Lowry’s relationship with his bedridden mother. The story plays out against a backdrop of the great artist’s paintings – licensed by DACS on behalf of the Estate of L. S. Lowry.
Royal Academy of Arts' festive gift wrap
We work very closely with museums and galleries on their production of seasonal gifts and exhibition merchandise. This year we teamed up with the Royal Academy of Arts to license their use of a charming woodcut turkey by Antonio Frasconi in their 2019 Christmas card and gift wrap selection. Take a look.
16Arlington’s Fall 2019 collection
German-American artist Richard Lindner provided the inspiration for up-and-coming British fashion designers 16Arlington and their Fall 2019 collection, showcased at London Fashion Week earlier this year. We worked with the label on their use of the painter’s bold and colourful work, which was incorporated into the fabrics they used. Find out more.
Pat McGrath’s pop-up make-up laboratory
We collaborated with legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath to license a reproduction of Walter Schulze-Mittendorff’s iconic ‘Metropolis robot’ in a 3-month pop-up laboratory at Selfridges’ Oxford Street store. The instantly recognisable work was originally created for Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci-fi masterpiece and featured in the pop-up’s striking window display.
Phaidon’s Great Women Artists
We worked with publisher Phaidon on their use of over 70 artworks in a landmark publication charting five centuries of female creativity. Great Women Artists is the most extensive fully illustrated book of women artists to date. Tracey Emin, Sonia Boyce, Dorothea Tanning and Elisabeth Frink are just some of the artists who feature.
