Archive bursary programme supports 10 UK artists and estates
A bursary programme designed to support artists and estates in safeguarding their legacies and archival work for future generations, originally conceived by the Art360 Foundation, has been funded by Arts Council England and administered by DACS.
Recollect: Artists, Legacies, Futures is a 12-18 month programme that is helping artists and estates organise, archive, and preserve their life’s work while exploring ways to share their artistic contributions with the public. 10 recipients across the UK have received a bursary of £10,000 each, alongside tailored professional guidance from archivists, curators, and specialists.
Recollect also extends beyond financial support by providing a platform for creative output, allowing participants to develop projects including films, podcasts, publications, or public events that reflect their artistic journey and contributions. Public engagement and access to unexplored artworks is a key component of the programme, with upcoming events planned at institutions such as The Whitworth and Tate, featuring Recollect artists in discussion.
Recollect provides dedicated support for artists and estates in the UK, safeguarding artistic legacies that might otherwise be overlooked – particularly those of underrepresented voices in the UK’s artistic landscape. We are thrilled to see the vision of Art360 Foundation be realised in this programme by ensuring that artists and estates who have helped shape the cultural fabric of the UK are recognised, celebrated, and their work preserved for future generations.

This funding, 40 years after the formation of Bow Gamelan Ensemble, comes at a fantastic time to enable us to re-collect the tendrils of our archives and to jointly recollect extraordinary moments and manifestations of the group throughout the eighties and several offshoots beyond, letting us reach more of the new generation of artists already intrigued and excited by the group’s maverick physical approach to combining the aural and visual.
Richard Lin Show Yu was born into a classical Chinese household and became a pioneer of mixed media modern and contemporary art in the UK in the 1960’s and a leading influence in Taiwan, in the last three decades of his life, during which he devoted himself to sculpture and public spaces. Participation in the Recollect Art360 project facilitates the broader appreciation and wider dissemination of Richard Lin Show Yu’s journey and his contributions.
